![]() My issue was: the previous game version I had before I activated 1.40, should be something like 1.39. In fact, I'm happy playing betas here and there and to provice feedback as I feel needed. Ok thanks for the input, but I already am aware of the issues when running a beta game, my thread is not about that. Do not run your game until you have downgraded your game back to version 1.39 in the Steam Client ("Opt out of all betas"). This will restore your game profiles to the state before you upgraded to game version 1.40. Remove (or rename) the folder called "profiles", then copy the folder called "profiles(1.40.0.78s).bak" and paste it to the same place, rename the new folder copy as "profiles". In your game's home directory (usually This PC > Documents > Euro Truck Simulator 2) are stored backup copies of the profiles directory (profiles folders with ".bak" extensions). ![]() There is a way to get your old profiles back, before they were upgraded to the 1.40 format. In summary, your game profile has been upgraded to the new format of 1.40 and therefore cannot be loaded using game versions prior to 1.40. The game has no mechanism to load a new format using an old version of the game, so it marks the upgraded game profiles as incompatible when using an older version of the game. When you load a game profile the game re-writes some of the profile files, if this occurs while using a new version of the game which has an new save format then the profile is upgraded to the new format version. You risk corrupting/locking-out your game profile(s) when using the open beta.
